Lighting and sound for a live band: what is standard, what costs extra?
When booking a live band, you quickly think of the musicians and the repertoire – but lighting and sound determine the experience at least as much. And this is precisely where bands can differ significantly: with some, it is simply included in the price, while with others, it is a separate expense. What can you expect, and what are the possibilities for expansion?
Summary
At Uptown Coverband, a complete sound system and basic lighting for venues up to 200 people are included in the price as standard, including in-ear monitoring for flexible volume. Want more impact? An extensive light show with trusses and effects can be booked as an upgrade. Curious what this means for your party? Check out our options as wedding band or company party band.
In-depth guide
What do you get as standard?
At Uptown Coverband, a complete professional sound system for venues of up to 200 people is included as standard, including basic lighting to properly illuminate the band. We manage this technology in-house, so with our all-in package, everything is taken care of in one go. Is sound and lighting equipment already present at the location? Then we coordinate the technology and facilities directly with the venue.
Why that is not self-evident
For some bands, it works differently: they work with a fixed technical supplier for sound and lighting, who brings their own equipment, personnel, and transport. These costs are often charged separately, which can quickly mean several hundred euros in extra costs on top of the band price. With Uptown Coverband, you don't have to take that into account – which also saves on planning and organization: no separate supplier to coordinate with, no extra planning or point of contact.
Flexible thanks to in-ear monitoring
Uptown Coverband plays with in-ear monitoring as standard. This makes us flexible regarding space and volume – useful at venues with noise regulations, or in a smaller space than usual. We can therefore perform with our standard lineup even at smaller venues.
Expansion possibilities
Want just that little bit extra? With our extensive options, anything is possible, always discussed in advance and included in the quotation: • Extensive light show: unique, custom-made trusses with moving lights and lighting effects, specially tailored to our repertoire and show. We bring the big-event feeling to your party – for an evening that also stands out technically. • Sound system expansion: for larger indoor venues of 200 to 500 people. Are you organizing an even larger event or an outdoor event? Then we will put together a custom solution. • Extra sound technician: handy for short setup times, larger halls, or specific technical requirements – ensuring everything is professionally arranged from start to finish. • Illuminated dance floor: makes the dance floor the shining centerpiece of the evening and invites guests to keep dancing. • Stage expansion: no stage available on location? We provide a sleekly finished, height-adjustable stage. Larger dimensions are possible in consultation, even for the largest events.
From practice
William wrote after a performance at his garden party: “We are extremely impressed by the band’s professional approach regarding sound, equipment, but also the setlist and arrangements.” And Ferry, who booked Uptown Coverband for his wedding: “It was also nice that they were proactive in thinking along regarding other matters such as guest appearances and (extra) lighting/sound.”
